Nothing Is Impossible for God — And That's Not Just a Nice Thing to Say

I wrote something short in my journal this morning. Three sentences. I didn't know what to do with them, but I felt like they needed to go somewhere — like someone needed to read this.

Nothing is impossible for God.

Talking with God is an ongoing journey. Take every day as an opportunity to cultivate your relationship with Him and delight in Him just as He delights in you.

That's all I had. But I keep sitting with it, because those three sentences are doing a lot of work.

Let's start with the first one: nothing is impossible for God.

Not "most things." Not "things within reason." Not "things if you have enough faith first." Nothing. Zero things. The impossibilities you're staring at right now, the ones you've run out of ideas for, the ones you have convinced yourself cannot turn around — none of them are outside of what He can do.

I know that sounds like the thing people say when they don't know what else to say. The church answer. The one that sounds nice but doesn't land when you're in the thick of something. But I'm not saying it to fill silence. I'm saying it because I have lived on the other side of it. I have been at points where I genuinely could not see any way forward. And God moved in ways I did not plan, could not have predicted, and definitely could not have engineered myself.

The situation you think is impossible is exactly the kind of situation He specializes in.

Now the second part: talking with God is an ongoing journey.

This one is for everyone who thinks prayer has rules you've already broken. For everyone who went weeks or months without talking to God and doesn't know how to walk back in the room. For everyone who feels like they need to clean something up first before they can come to Him.

You don't. You just start talking.

God is not a formal appointment. He's not keeping track of how long it's been since your last check-in. Prayer is a relationship, and relationships grow through all kinds of conversations — the grateful ones, the desperate ones, the confused ones where you don't even know what you're asking. All of it counts. Every day is a new opportunity to build that. You don't have to catch up. You just have to show up.

And then this last piece, which is the one that stops me: delight in Him just as He delights in you.

He delights in you.

Not the version of you that has it together. Not the version you're working toward. The current one — the one reading this right now, with all the complicated history and unfinished edges. He looks at you and delights.

If you've spent years feeling like God is disappointed in you, I want to say this directly: that is not His voice. Disappointment implies He expected something different. He knows you completely — He formed you — and His response to the full picture of you is delight. That is the God you're in a relationship with. That is who you're talking to every time you open your mouth in prayer.

So when the passage says to delight in Him — it's not asking you to manufacture a feeling you don't have yet. It's asking you to receive what He already started. He went first. His delight in you was the opening move. You're just responding to it.

Nothing is impossible. The conversation is always open. And He delights in you.
