God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the spirit and in truth. John 4:24 NIV

This verse can confuse people if you do not understand what it means to worship in spirit and truth. It sounds like you need some special anointing, and I do not think that is true.

I have been doing this journey for a while now, and even I am still learning what it means to worship in spirit and truth. Here is where I have landed.

Worship in spirit means worship from your heart, not from a performance. It is not about the right words or the right posture or being seen doing it right. It is about what is actually happening inside you when you come to God.

Worship in truth means it is real. No pretending. No putting on a show to look spiritual or to impress anyone watching. Just you, actually meaning what you are saying to God.

Put together, Jesus is telling the woman at the well that worship was never about location or ritual or status. It was always meant to be genuine. Heart over performance. Real over rehearsed.

So if you have ever read that verse and thought, wait, what does that even mean, you are not alone. It just means God wants you, not a version of you putting on a show.

I had a real question about this verse, and that is what I came to. Worship Him with your heart. Not for attention. Not to look a certain way. Just bring Him what is actually there.

    Peace, Love and Joy always,
    Tanya
